Leave a Lasting Legacy

Leaving a legacy for the next generation
Making a will is the only way to make sure that your property and possessions will pass to those you want to benefit.  It’s only right that your family and friends come first in your thoughts but that doesn’t mean you can’t also leave a gift to a cause close to your heart.

Leaving a gift to Best Beginnings, however large or small, will help us to give the next generation the healthiest possible start in life.  The first two years of life are a fantastic window of opportunity to reduce healthcare inequalities.  Currently these inequalities mean that the poorest in our society will suffer from disability 17 years earlier than the wealthiest.

Inheritance Tax legislation means that if you don’t prepare properly, a substantial part of what you leave behind may go to the state. To find out more about how to make a will and ensure your estate goes to those you want to benefit go to www.rememberacharity.org.uk or email legacy@bestbeginnings.org.uk

Through www.rememberacharity.org.uk you can access free advice from a qualified probabte solicitor if you are a lay executor.  The helpline number is 0844 880 2087 and will answer questions and advise on:
  • Performing a basic estate analysis to establish if probate is needed
  • Giving advice on the duties of an executor
  • Giving advice on how to arrange asset valuations
  • How to conduct an asset search
  • Providing details of the nearest probabte office
  • Giving an idea of how much time the executor need allocate to administer an estate
  • Giving basic advice on the payment of Inheritance Tax and if it will apply to the estate
  • Giving basic advice on what a charity will require of a lay executor and the distribution of any legacy
  • Giving advice on tracing missing beneficiaries
